  2. large onion - 1 medium (finely chopped)
  3. hot peppers - 2-3 (finely chopped, adjust quantity to taste)
  4. sweet (green or red) peppers - 1-2 (finely chopped, optional)
  5. salt - 1 teaspoon (to taste)
  6. ground cumin - 1 teaspoon (to taste)
  7. boiling water - approximately 1 cup (added during cooking)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crab: Clean the female caporia crab by removing the scissors and the sand-containing piece on the back. Rinse thoroughly with water to remove any mud or sand.
  2. Prepare the seasoning mixture: Finely chop the large onion, hot peppers, and sweet peppers (if using). Mix them together with salt and ground cumin.
  3. Heat the pot: Place a pot on the stove and heat it very well until hot.
  4. Cook the crab: Add the cleaned crab to the hot pot. Then add the onion and pepper mixture on top. Stir gently to combine.
  5. Add water and simmer: Pour approximately one cup of boiling water into the pot. Cover and cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Remove the crab scissors: After 5 minutes, remove the crab scissors from the pot to allow the sauce to thicken.
  7. Continue cooking: Cover the pot again and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  8. Finish and serve: Remove the crab from the pot. Serve hot, enjoying the natural flavors of the crab with the spiced onion and pepper mixture.
