Ingredients

  1. ham roast with skin - 1 kilo (1 kilo)
  2. boiling water - as needed to cover the skin
  3. salt - to taste
  4. bay leaves - as needed
  5. whole peppercorns - as needed

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 200 degrees Celsius with fan.
  2. Prepare the roast: Place salt, pepper, and bay leaves in the bottom of a roasting pan. Place the ham roast in the middle of the pan with the skin side down. Pour boiling water into the pan to just cover the skin.
  3. First roasting: Roast in the oven for 20 minutes.
  4. Turn and season: Remove the roast from the oven, turn it skin side up, and ensure the skin is properly scored. Rub salt into the cracks.
  5. Second roasting: Return the roast to the oven and cook for approximately 50 minutes.
  6. Rest before serving: Let the roast rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing.
