Instructions

  1. Prepare the pot: Heat a mix of regular and olive oil in a large pot.
  2. Cook onions and garlic: Add chopped onions to the pot and stir until browned, then add garlic and spices.
  3. Brown the meat: Add the meat to the pot and turn to mix well with the onions and spices.
  4. Add water and cook meat: Pour boiling water into the pot, cover, and cook on low heat until the meat is tender.
  5. Add tomatoes: Blend tomatoes and add to the pot, cooking for another quarter hour.
  6. Cook the rice: Add washed and soaked basmati rice to the pot, stir, and cook until the rice is done.
