white onions - 2 medium onions (cut into thin circles)
flour - watch the video to see (enough to coat onions)
oil - watch the video to see (for frying, enough to deep fry)
Instructions
Prepare onions: Peel and slice white onions into thin circles. Do not wash after cutting to avoid blotchiness during frying.
Coat onions with flour: Place sliced onions in a bowl and sprinkle flour over them. Roll the onions in the flour until fully coated. Shake off excess flour.
Heat oil and test: Heat oil in a frying pan to a temperature suitable for frying (like frying potatoes). Test by frying a small piece of onion to ensure oil is hot.
Fry onions: Gently add floured onions to the hot oil, separating them so they do not stick together. Fry until they turn a golden blond color and become crunchy.
Drain excess oil: Remove fried onions from oil and place on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
Serve: Use crunchy fried onions as a garnish or side, for example on Madardara or other dishes.
