Ingredients

  1. basil leaves - watch the video to see (as many as possible, fresh)
  2. grape seed oil - watch the video to see (natural oil, avoid olive oil to prevent overpowering basil flavor)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Basil Leaves: Grab as many fresh basil leaves as possible and stuff the bowl of a high power blender with them.
  2. Add Oil and Blend: Add grape seed oil to the blender with basil leaves. Avoid using olive oil as it may overwhelm the herb's taste. Blend well.
  3. Cook the Mixture: Cook the blended mixture for 35 minutes.
  4. Strain and Cool: Strain the basil oil through a fine sieve (shininoa) and cool it quickly over a bath of ice water.
  5. Store: Fill up a bottle with the basil oil and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.
