In this video, we try to create a bowl of Tonkotsu (tasting) ramen from a package of instant ramen. I've seen a few people on Japanese youtube do this so I wanted to see for myself what it taste like. The results were a lot better than I expected. The mouthfeel is very similar to actual tonkotsu ramen. I think the only thing that really gives it away is the sweetness from the soymilk and the crap floating around from the soup packet. I think if I strained it, it would have looked nicer. If you want to try this recipe, please try to find original flavored soymilk. You probably don't want vanilla flavored ramen. Also, I tried it with unsweetened soymilk to try to cut the sweetness, it did not taste as good as the original flavored with sugar. I used Kikkoman's organic pearl original soy milk https://www.kikkomanusa.com/homecooks/products/products_hc_details.php?pf=06136 but I think something like this would work as well, if not better because it has less sugar: https://silk.com/plant-based-products/soymilk/original-soymilk/) Ingredients (1 serving) 1 package of instant ramen (I used sapporo ichiban original flavor) 1 cup of water 1 cup of original flavored soymilk 1 Tbsp Lard Sesame seeds Toppings (Optional) Wood ear fungus, chopped and lightly fried Green onions Directions: 1. Heat up 1 cup of water and 1 cup of soymilk, 1 Tbsp of lard and soup packet from instant ramen in a small pot. 2. In a separate pot of boiling water, cook your noodle block for 2 minutes (1 minute less than the instructions) 3. When the soup is heated, pour it into a bowl 4. When noodles are cooked, drain the noodles well in a strainer and add them to the soup. 5. Add toppings
