An Interview with Ivan Orkin of Ivan Ramen

As a foreigner living in Japan, Ivan opened Ivan Ramen and quickly became a rising star in the ramen world. At the time, the idea that a foreigner could make ramen that Japanese people would enjoy was something unfathomable for many Japanese ramen fans but Ivan earned his seat at the table and quickly began attracting lines of people eager to tastes his ramen. He later returned to the US and opened Ivan Ramen in NYC again to critical acclaim. Ivan has written best selling cookbooks, appeared on late night tv, in magazines, and was featured in the Netflix series Chef's Table. My buddy Mike (ramen lord) and I were fortunate enough to fall into a position to interview Ivan through donating to a charity called Asks Chefs Anything, and I feel we got him to answer questions that he often doesn't get a chance to talk about in his standard interviews with non-ramen nerds. Ivan was a complete class act, and he has definitely inspired me to continue to learn and work on developing my own style of ramen. I hope this interview has the same effect on you.
