How to use a Boston Shaker

The Boston shaker is my preferred cocktail shaker when deciding between Boston & a cobbler shaker. The Boston shaker is comprised of two pieces; the stainless steel tin and the glass - able to hold a large volume and enables you to see the ingredients as you work with them - definitely the faster and more efficient choice of the two. Turn the Boston shaker so that it is sitting on the tin - as the steel gets cold, the metal will contract and form a tight seal. 4. Securely hold one hand on the tin and the other on the glass. 5. Shake for around 12 seconds - this will give the ideal dilution and chill the drink down. 5. Place a hawthorn strainer into the top of the tin and strain through a second strainer (conical strainer or tea strainer). The finer strainer will remove pips, pulp and fine ice shards.
